1、 Why do we need to drain the water tank of the diesel generator set
Due to the decline in temperature, the temperature continues to drop. When there is a significant temperature difference between the water in the cooling water tank of the diesel generator set and the surrounding environment, all the cooling water inside the generator set should be drained.
2、 Precautions for drainage of diesel generator set water tank
1. When discharging water, due to the low temperature of the external environment of the diesel generator set, the cooling water should be discharged 15 minutes after the shutdown when the water temperature drops. It does not mean that the discharge should be carried out immediately after the shutdown. Otherwise, due to the large temperature difference between the body and the external environment, some components of the diesel generator set will deform, which will affect the performance of the diesel engine.
2. When discharging water, it is not advisable to turn on the drain switch and leave it unattended. Instead, it is important to observe the specific condition of the water flow around the area, mainly to check if the water flow is smooth, and to see if there is any phenomenon of water flow becoming smaller, faster, and slower. If these situations occur, it indicates that the cooling water contains impurities that hinder the normal flow of water. The best way to do so is to remove the drain switch and allow the cooling water to flow out directly from the body. If it is found that the water flow is still not smooth, then at this time, hard and slender rigid objects such as iron wire should be used to clear it until the water flow is smooth.
3. Finally, when the cooling water stops flowing out, it is best to shake the diesel generator set a few more times. This way, the remaining water inside and the cooling water that is not easy to flow out can be used to flow clean by the vibration of the diesel engine. After the water discharge is completed, the water discharge switch should be in the open state to prevent the cold water from temporarily being unable to flow out and causing unnecessary damage to the corresponding components of the diesel engine due to freezing.
